She competed in into the Miss Columbus pageant in 1985. After winning the title and kissing the crowned, she defeated all competitors. Her victory qualified her to compete at Miss Georgia. Miss Georgia contest in June 1985. On June 22 Mohr was the winner of the competition. Mohr was chosen to represent Georgia as well as the state of Georgia, at Miss America's 1986 pageant which was held in Atlantic City New Jersey. While she was crowned Miss America 1986 but she was not able to get into the top 10 of the national finalist list.
