She graduated in 1989 and received her bachelor's degree in broadcast weatherology. Mohr began her career at the top of the list when she was just 24 years old. It was due to advice from a UGA classmate. She competed for Miss Columbus in Miss Columbus, 1985. The final result was that she took it by kissing and beating every competitor. Because of her success she was able to participate in the Miss Georgia pageant in June 1985. On June 22, 1985 she also won the contest. Mohr, after winning the tournament, went on to compete for Georgia in the Miss America 1986 competition. Miss America 1986 in Atlantic City in New Jersey in September of 1985. In spite of her success however, she was not within the Top 10 for national title.
